Rockdale County Launches 'Bring One for the Chipper' Christmas Tree Recycling Program |
Residents Encouraged to Recycle Live Christmas Trees Starting January 3, 2026 |
Rockdale County is set to kick off its annual 'Bring One for the Chipper' program, offering residents an eco-friendly way to dispose of their live Christmas trees after the holiday season.
The initiative will run from January 3 to January 10, 2026, at the Rockdale Recycling Center, located at 1200 Sigman Road. Operating hours are 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. daily during this period.
Residents are encouraged to bring their undecorated trees to the center, ensuring all ornaments, lights, tinsel, and stands are removed beforehand.
To celebrate the program's launch on January 3, the first 50 residents who pre-register and drop off a tree that day will receive a free tree seedling, generously provided by the Georgia Forestry Commission. Available seedlings include White Oak, Bald Cypress, and Catalpa.
To pre-register, residents should email kcrb@rockdalecountyga.gov with their full name, phone number, and preferred seedling species. Seedling requests will be honored in the order received and are subject to availability.
All collected trees will be chipped and recycled, contributing to various community projects and reducing landfill waste.
